    Making trout spinners.

    Hello all..

Im new here and so far I love the site.

I have been making trout spinners for a while now and they tend to look and work as well or better than spinners from the store except for one thing.

When I tie the wire shaft using needle nose pliers.. My finished product ends up having an ob-long and kinda square hole where you tie your line.

Any spinner bait in the stores.. Blue Fox, Rooster Tail, etc.. all seem to have perfect, round holes that are smaller than mine, no matter how tight I try to make my tie.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks.

You need to find you a pair of pliers that have two ROUND jaws if you want to bend them with pliers or you can get a wire bender and it will make them round everytime with a twist of the handle. You can pick up a wire former that will bend .24 and smaller wire and make some great spinners with it. It will make the perfect circles you are after. I hope this helps...Good Fishin'...PM

If you have a Michael's or Hobby Lobby or any arts and craft store that sells jewellery making supplies, you should be good to go. These may not be the highest quality like the German made, but they will get you going for well under $10.
