    The Great President Bush

President Bush has served as president of our country during it's most difficult times. These times are the most difficult the nation has seen in over a hundred years. He has had some tough decisions to make using the information available while fending off resistance from the democratic party. Some of those decisions , Regime change in Iraq. Due to the fine job the media has done in making the people think that the only reason we went into Iraq was for WMD he has become unpopular. The media doesn't mention the 17 UN resolutions that were before that. Or the slaughter of the sunnis in the south after we left IRAQ in 91.It was enough reason for me that they were shooting at our pilots on a daily basis in the no-fly zone. That should be enough. Water boarding- The president has the primary duty of defending this country. If dunking a prisoner in water prevents another attack like 9/11 then I'll pay the water bill. The economy- The congress has a finance committee to oversee these big businesses. Barney Franks fell asleep at the helm. Immigration- This is an easy one. If you're here illegally, anchor baby, or not you must go back home. They are a drain on our system. If you are illegal and are contributing to our society then when you legally apply for citizenship you will have a 5 point preference. President Bush has done a great job in very trying time with the support that he had. I’m not talking about the fly-by-night, politically correct support given by the democrats. Democrats voted for the war in Iraq. Why can’t they live with that? Bush is human and has made mistakes, but he has worked hard to make them right. Remember, there are three things that affect a leader. It is easy to Monday morning quarterback with the information we have now.The leader himself, the situation, and the followers.

    Re: The Great President Bush

Just because someone tried hard doesn't make them a success. Our country is in the worst shape it has been in since I can remember. Sure there alot of factors that have contributed to our current situation, but it all starts at the top. A president, above all else, should be a good leader and bring people together, regardless of political affiliation to achieve goals. Bush has helped create a divide in this country, and that is a failure in leadership. America has lost it's global appeal, and is no longer held in such esteem around the globe as it once was. Ask anybody from any foriegn country what the major problem is with America, and they will say Bush - he really has become a global punch line. The American President was once one of the most respected people/positions on Earth, and it no longer is. Hopefully, our next president, regardless of who it is, will be able to restore the prestige that came along with the position as president of the US.

OMG...... That may qualify for the dumbest thing i've ever heard award. On second thought, Forbin, you win; congratulations.

President George W. BUSH WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS ONE OF THE GREATEST PRESIDENTS OF ALL TIME,period. I don't need to tell you how i feel about the global community. If they hate Bush so much why don't they stop exporting to the U.S.?

Col. Forbin, your response to the initial post of this thread isn't worth even talking about....Mr. George W. Bush has led this Country extremely well considering all aspects of his time in Office. It's Democrats like yourself that just hate to admit that he's done one heck of a good job for the conditions he's faced.

I'd still take Mr. Bush for 8 more years, before I'd take the wanna be Presidential hopeful you Dems. are trying to shove down the American peoples throats....But since Mr. Bush can't run again, then we'll take the republican's choice to replace him in Office....Mr. John McCain.....

Bill Clinton was the one responsible for taking the respect away from the president of the U.S. not George Bush.

This is the only part of this post I really disagree with. I agree that President Bush gets bashed a lot more than he should, but this country's "most difficult times" so far are NOT, IMHO, the present. WWII and the Great Depression would be number one and two on my list. On second thought, put the Civil War on top. What we're going through now is a trifle compared to any of those three. We lost 53,000 in Vietnam. Does anything happening today compare to that? Not that any great president got us out of there, but I would call that a more "difficult time" than any of Bush's presidency. I might not quibble with calling him "good," but when you compare what he's done to what others accomplished, I just don't see how you can justify calling him a "great" president. Personally, I think he's been mediocre at best.

And BTW, Richard Nixon damaged the reputation of the presidency a heckuva lot more than Clinton ever did.

I just got onr thing to say about that, Would'nt we have done the same it is a NO FLY ZONE just like we had right after 9/11 and they told us to watch the sky and shoot down any planes in the air.

The President has done OK at best but he has been trying to make it up.
But that is like saying sorry i killed your son here is some money that will make it ok.

I don't recall getting attacked that often prior to 9/11. I think that is a lame reason to call him a great or even good president. He was president during the worst attack in history, if you credit him for not being attacked after 9/11, then by that reasoning - he should get the credit for being attacked. I am not saying it his fault, only that your logic behind that argument is flawed.

President Clinton screwed up on a personal level. But on a professional level he was and still is respected around the world as a great leader.

I will go as far to agree that he has been a mediocre president. But considering the position and the responsibilities that go along with it, anything less than good is a failure.

Col it was your beloved Bill ''Pants around his ankles'' Clinton that is to blame for 9/11. He had Bin Laden and let him go. Also there are tapes you can see where Oliver North warned about Bin Laden and how dangerous he was and your stupid idiot Al Gore laughed at him and made jokes. Oliver wanted to go whack the guy with an assasin team but OH NO you can't do that, that would be against everything you LIBS stand for. If you are even hinting that 9/11 was Bush's fault you my friend are well, I won't say. I'm done talking to you Col because I'm not politically correct like Devil's Horse and I'm fixin to loose my cool with you and tell you what I really think so I'll shut up now. Oh wait, I can here know1 getting ready to step in and warn me about personal attacks, lol.

Take it easy. I never said it was Bush's fault. ALl I said if you are using the arguement that he is good because there have been no more attacks while he was in office - it is simple logic that the same would be true that he is to blame because the attack happened while he was in office. I am not laying blame, I am just saying by logical deduction the argument could go both ways. Many factors went into the attack, as well as what went into the raising of national security. Yes, the Bush administration did increase National security. But he had no choice, and any administration would have done that. The lack of something happening "attacks" do not make him great. I am sure if a democrat president had been in office during the last eight years, every single one of you would be in here bashing that administration for the same actions as the current one you are praising.

If he (Bush) was so great, why does McCain not have him supporting him at his rallies. McCain, and the rest of the GOP, want to distance themself from Bush as much as possible. This is his own party. Doesn't sound like the GOP agree with you all that Bush was a great, or even good president. Both parties are campaigning on Change/Reform - there is a reason for that.

    Re: The Great President Bush

Col.........how did you come to HATE our country so much........

If we're so BAD, why does EVERYONE, and I pretty much MEAN EVERYONE want to live here. WHY?????

If we're so BAD, and the world SEES us so POORLY, then why did the rest of the FREE world vote for more conservative values than in HISTORY. France voted OUT Chirac for Sarkozy, a pro USA conservative.....Germany THREW OUT Schroder a SOCIALIST for Merkel, another PRO US conservative. Italy voted OUT Prodi for Berlusconi......NOT the best, but a Liberal Conservative. The Brits....our GREATEST ally is voting in the TORIES over the Labor party.......etc, etc, etc, etc.

My point being; While the WORLD is leaning more center - right than center or center left, we will be electing the MOST LIBERAL of all WORLD leaders, and the MOST LIBERAL EVER in our country.

Is it just me or does the REST of the world that "seems to hate us", really NOT hate us as much as you'd like.

Or do you suppose the Muslim Uprising in France had anything to do with the shift.......Or the 30% unemployment in SOCIALIST FRANCE have anything to do with it..........

    HM.

    Geo
