FUNNY! I seem to have the same problem with my cat when out flipping a jig. I had to cut off the hook.

Ok, after breakfast this morning my wife reminded me that Christmas was getting close and I still didn't have our lights and reindeer up outside yet. She also reminded me that 2 fishing trips I took recently were the reason. After not having much of a comeback I decided to go on out with the kids and put up the lights and deer in the wind. Got that stuff done and decided to rake up a few leaves, what I could catch anyway. I think more blew away than what I could bag.
Now the whole time this is going on, I swear that new FnF rod that came in yesterday was calling my name. So after the chores I slipped on a reel that had some Gamma on. Tied on a 3 way swivel that I happened to find in my tackle box. Tied on a 10 foot leader of fluoro and then the little jig. Now keep in mind, I still didn't have on the weighted float but I wanted to practice throwing that big awkard rig. I cast about 4 or 5 times out in the yard and was pretty happy with the distance (considering the weight). On the last cast I just started shaking the rod to get a feel for the action, not really paying attention to the jig. Then I looked up and a bird had flown down and was heading away with the jig in it's beak. Now I tell you, I don't know if it was instinct or what, but it was all I could do not to cross his eyes when he took off with that jig. He got up about 10 or 15 feet and dropped it and I was laughing my tail off. Maybe that's a good sign of things to come with this rig, but then again he did get off.

This could be the start of something bigger and better, maybe that rig you have will end up catching anything that swims!!
That's funny. I can't leave anything with a skirt laying around in my garage. Jigs or spinnerbaits. My dog will clean them off slick! Has done that on serveral occations, and not once hooked himself. A 90lb Shepard chow mix. Never stuck himself. It will happen.
