has anyone tried fnf at Green River Lake

This is just a thought, but from fishing tournaments at all the local lakes (Nolin, Rough, Barren and Green) It always seems that more smallmouth are weighed in at Green. Ive always thought Green has the best population of smallmouth of these lakes. So, with that being said has anyone tried fnf fishing and had any luck at Green?

I've wanted to. The only problem with Green is that in the winter time I have never been able to find clear water. Our winters have been so wet the past few years that I have only been able to find stained or chocolate milk water. But if I can find it clear plan on trying it.

Never fished Green ever for anything but I can tell you that the fly will work anytime, anywhere when the water temps drop below 55 and you can find some fairly clear water. Even if you don't find totally clear water it will work as long as you use some Chartreuse in your jig color. Not necessarily totally chartr. but some in the jig color. I did catch a couple of suicide crappie at Guist Creek of all places in 42 degree chocolate milk water in March just to see if it would work. Not in the Bass class but it was fish.

Re: has anyone tried fnf at Green River Lake

I fished Green last thursday. The Water temp. was in the low 40's. I caught 6 fish. 4 on a fly and 2 on a jig. They were all nice spots from 15"
to 17 1/2" no smallmouth. I hope to go back in a few days if the lake is not muddy. Anyone know the water color?
