They are walleye sauger hybrid, they have blotches on sides dark,
distinct and extending below the lateral line dark blotch at rear base of
spiny dorsal fin kinda like the walleye. Some call them "Saugeye" [FONT=Arial]The saugeye is a hybrid made by crossing a sauger and walleye. Like other hybrids, the saugeye is hardy ants fast. It shows the promise of filling a niche in barren river where walleye have not done well, especially in small impoundments. The saugeye resembles both parents with a spotted dorsal fin that also has a blotch at the rear base, distinct blotching on the sides and has a scaled cheek. The saugeye has only been stocked in barren river since 1990.

My father had caught some walleye in Barren River Lake when they first impounded in the 60's.
Where do they stock them ?
Thanks
Not barren river LAKE. Barren RIVER, in warren co KY
