This is an off the wall question so to speak. The other guys post about replica's made me think of mounts in general, and another fella posted that ten years from now the replica will still look good? So what's the oldest mount any of you all are aware of. For me it's the one my dad has that's 51 years old...A 7lb large mouth that was caught in the area of Conley Bottom in 1957 and has hung on the wall in the same spot in the living room since the mid 60's. Not sure what he caught it on...I think I need to ask that question of him before he passes away, while his memory is still decent...anyway, what I do know is that he caught it in the month of October and it was c-o-l-d-e-r than a well diggers rear end...he says he was alone at the time and had some booze with him and he remembers that he landed the fish, took a nice swig of whiskey and headed for the dock to show everyone. This is a plane jane mount, just a nice flat board with the fish just mounted to it straight, nothing fancy at all...no color to it, the fish isn't bent in any fashion, it's just a flat mount, in fact it's sort of yellow looking now, but it's a hog and to this day I STILL like looking at it anytime I'm at their house.
