Question Lexan, how do you cut it?

I have gotten some Lexan for making lips for crankbaits. How do you cut it or punch it out to make the lips? Any ideas out there? It is 1/16" thick. Info appreciated.

I just cut it with the bandsaw or scroll saw (safer). Leave the paper/film coating on to trace the design you want, cut outside the line, then sand to the line and remove the protective film.

Some people "flame" the edges to get the "polished" clear look again. This is done by moving a flame back and forth quickly to get rid of the scratches from the sanding step.

Like all things in luremaking, practicing on scrap is a good place to start.

Same way as Upacrick described it, mark the lines, cut on the bandsaw, sand the edges.

Thanks for the info. I have a scroll saw, I will give it a shot. What do you sand it down with, dremel sander or just hand sand for quick best results?

Hand sand with 120 grit, and then finish with fine paper.

I you use a scroll saw, use a blade that has teeth on the upper and downward stroke. It create a smoother cut and the piece you are cutting will not jump up and down.
