I'm going to look at them tomorrow after work, he said he has a few of them. He had a small reel repair shop and is going out of business.
Mike, I'll let you know but I doubt if they will last very long.
    Thank's David

    Re: allstar rod's?

I wouldn't touch them. My brother in law and I bought a couple last winter and mine broke on my first hook set at the river in a tournament. One of the other guys in my fishing club said he had bought a couple from that guy as well with the same results. Pretty sure you are talking about a guy in Louisville, as I was told the same 'going out of business, rods from Houston' story. Hope I caught you before you went!

I agree. I bought some from the swap meet in Cave city last year and they are junk in my opinion. Not had one break yet but that is because I don't use them much. No feel to them and they seem to be overly stiff and did not cast well for me. The rods I have are the same old "left over Houston" rods. You normally get what you pay for and I think this is the case here also. Good Luck !

Bought a Carolina Rod from him last year and mine snapped as well 3 months later... Like the rod but not worth it if they won't last...

Well I'M Glad I checked back on here before I went over to look at them. He said he was at the Cave city swap meet, so I'm assuming it was the same guy. Thank's for the info I think I'll pass on this one. My son just bought a few of the Johnny morris signiture series rod's at BPS on clearance with his discount for about $42, I think I'll have to confiscate a couple of them.
    Thx David

I bought an All Star spinning rod at DSG a couple of years ago and I think that's about what I spent, maybe a little more. Haven't had any problems at all. It's the best spinning rod I've got.

    Re: allstar rod's?

i bought two at the strader show last year for $70 and i like them and have not had any problems what so ever. i had a problem with two of the ugly stick rods and it was determined by shakespear after i sent both back to them that the blanks had a defect in them and the two they sent for replacement are great and i havent had any trouble so the all star blanks may have been defective as well.
