Lightbulb Relay for Life Bass Tournament

To all those who are interested, the Masonic Home of Shelbyville is hosting its Relay for Life Bass Tournament this year on April 4th, 2009 at Guist Creek Lake (7a - 1p). It pays out to the top 3 finishers and 100% of the rest of the money goes straight to the Relay for Life.

The cost is $50 per boat (plus the marina's $5 launch fee). The payout amount (based on 18 boats or more) is $500, $250, and $100 for first, second, or third.

This is a great opportunity to do some fishing and help out a great cause at the same time. Regular donations for the Relay for Life are expected to be lite this year, given the economic conditions, so the the Masonic Home of Shelbyville is hoping this will help out a lot.

Registration begins at 5:00 am. If you want some more information or just want to let them know that you are in... Call Robert or Jennifer Mitchell at (502) 647 - 2113. Or just post some questions/suggestions here and I will get the info for you.

Re: Relay for Life Bass Tournament

Thank you for posting the tournament and I hope we have another great turn out. The pay out money has been sponsored already so 100% of all the money taken in that day will go to the American Cancer Society. I will have grab bags for everybody again this year and tee-shirts for sale also. Even if you don't fish please come out at 1:00pm April 4, 2009 as we will have a lunch after the weigh in.
If any of you guys read this and are out at Guist Creek or don't mind to call them, please tell Charlie, Brad, Eric, and Kevin thank you for the work they put in to help with this fundraiser.

    Thanks again,
    Robbie and Jennifer

Not a problem! This tournament is for a great cause and Guist Creek Lake is starting to pick up. Last week, a small tournament out there would have had a winning weight of nearly 18 lbs had it not been a 1 fish, "big-bass" tournament. Not bad for Central Kentucky in mid-March!

Is there a entry form that can filled out before event morning?

I look forward to being there and hope my USA Bassin KY-10 Guist Creek members come too.

From what I know, there is no need to pre-register before April 4th (because of the guaranteed pay-out), but if it's something that you want to get out of the way, I will check and see if they are available.

Thanks for the reply. As a Tournament Director I know it is much easier for the director if the anglers send in entry forms, membership forms, etc. ahead of time. So if you have them I'd send it in to help out. If not, then I'll be at the ramp early.

    Thanks.

    Secret Weapon,

I just talked to Robbie (aka Ready to Fish) and he said he will round up some entry forms and get back to you.

He said things are coming together really well and should have a great turn-out this year. And like you alluded to, when 100% of the proceeds goes to Relay for Life (American Cancer Society) then nobody loses!

Re: Relay for Life Bass Tournament

I spoke to Mr. Hires yesterday about getting the forms he needed and he made another donation through USA Bassin. Mr Hires has offered a one year free membership to Bassin USA KY-10 Guist Creek division to the first boat out of the money. He also said if any of his current member win this prize he will allow them to carry the membership over to the 2010 season. I also spoke to Mr. Chris Hickey at the Dept. of fish and wildlife and he said through the Dept. they will bring a tank to hold release fish in until the weigh in is over.
I would like to thank both of these men and both of their organizations for all of their support. Please be sure to look at my other post with other sponsors and please if you know them or see them at the event thank them as none of this would be possible without their support.
I want all of you to know that everybody that I have asked for help has gone above and beyond all requests.
I also wanted you to know that I got two Quantum Accurist AC570PT Burner reels last weekend that will be given away after the weigh in. There will be other door prizes given away at that time also.
Please don't forget that we will be selling lunch, t-shirts, and other items. REMINDER ALL 100% of the money taken in that day will go to the American Cancer Society. This is also tax deductable for your entry-fee so if you wright a check make it out directly to THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY.
Thanks again to everyone and I hope we have another great turn out this year.

Masonic Home Shelbyville Relay For Life Bass Tournament

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for your interest in our fundraising efforts again this year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bill Gray and Cody Hall of B & C Baits for their donations of handmade Balsa Crank-Baits. Sparky Moffett for his donation of custom-made Crank Baits in a matching numbered collectors set. Purnell's Sausage Co. and Morrison's Management Specialists for donating all food items for the lunch menu. We will offer hot dog or Bratwurst / chips / baked beans / dessert & drink for $3.00. Morrison's also donated 100% of tournament pay back money. Steve Cloyd of Balfour has donated a lot of time and effort to get the T-Shirts done, which will be on sale the day of tournament. Charlie McClain and the Industrial Foundation for all of their efforts in getting our date locked down and a pavilion for our weigh-in. Mr. McClain and his staff at Guist Creek Lake will make sure that everything goes off without a hitch. Thanks Kevin M., Brad W., and Eric R. Thanks also to Mr. Strader for letting me put my tournament info at his booth at the Strader Show this year. I will be calling Mr. Strader this Sunday to mention the tournament on his radio call-in show on WHAS Radio. Thanks to Chris Hickey for listing the tournament on Fishing.com and KY Fish & Wildlife.com. Stephen Headrick of Punisher Lures for his donation and time.

If you are interested in participating in this event either by sending donations or actually fishing, please contact Robbie or Jennifer Mitchell @ (502) 647-2113. A Waiver and tournament rules can be sent to you by mail or email.

Thanks again to everyone who has helped. Be sure to stay after the tournament to receive a great grab-bag and possibly win one of many of our great door prizes. You must be present to win.

Just a reminder that 100% of the proceeds from the tournament will benefit the American Cancer Society.

April 4, 2009 tournament starts at 7:00am and chips must be back in the can at the ramp no later than 1:00pm. I will get to the lake at 5:30am if you want to register early. Please give me any feed back you may have and please continue to watch for new sponsors as I feel there will be a few more come on board in the next couple of weeks.
All start positions will be drawn out of a can on the day of the event.
If you know any of our sponsors please thank them for me as this would be impossible without them.
I also want to thank all of you that have supported us in the past.
***Last if you don't fish you should still come out and eat with us or maybe watch a friend or loved one weigh in.***

Re: Relay for Life Bass Tournament

I spoke with Greg and Patty at BOAT WORKS IN TAYLORSVILLE today and they have donated two very nice ski jackets that will be given away at the tournament Saturday April 4th after the weigh in. The jackets are red and black with Mercury on the back.

Please give them a call at boat works for all your boating needs 502-477-2628

Please remember you must be present to win any of the prizes. The draw for prizes will begin as soon as the tournament weigh in is over.
