i use a polymer knot with the fluoro cleer and i check the line and retie alot if the line breaks it is my falt for not retying and being lazy. i have swung in many 3 and 4 pounders on 8 pound test. i guess it is all in what you have confidence in.

thats what i thought too..so i tried several different knots, but they all had the same outcome(!!!SNAP!!!) i use 17lb xps and 15lb cxx and have yet to break it on the hook set. even on hang-ups i have to use the trolling motor to break it.

Thanks. good info all together
I like flouro-clear because it seems to have less memory and low vis, but I have had some recent breakoffs. I'm going to try to the next size up. I am bad about not re-tying though. It only takes about 30 secs.
Never, never, I mean never use Vanish. This was my first experience with flourocarbon many years ago and it totally turned me off what eventually became a great tool for my fishing thanks to seagar.
i agree. vanish is junk. i tried it on my crankbaits and lost a handful of good cranks because of it. however the 100% fluro vanish is much much better than the regular vanish, but im still searching around for a flurocarbon that i really like.
