Fished Newton yesterday. 25 degrees in the morning and 30 mph winds all day. Couldn't fish the main lake points due to the wind. Ran into a few short fish in the coves with a spinner bait and my partner caught one 4lb 9oz on a crankbait. Over all the fishing was lousy.

25hp max
We were out there too. Line and guides were freezing; made it tough to fish. We did manage to get 25 fish with 9 of them being keepers. I think the biggest was just over 5lbs with 3 others over 4. My buddy missed a true giant too, which made my 5lber look like a minnow - the big one that got away!
We got ours on crankbaits and wacky worms. The water temps we fished were from 62deg (around the ash-pond) up to 68 (over towards the warm discharge area). The warmer water did the best for us, size and numbers. We started off slow but things picked up as the sun came out.
That's a great lake!
I am going to Newton this weekend does anyone have any recent reports - tips? This only my third trip to the lake.

I fished the first weekend of April at Newton, besides the thunder, lightning, and rain, we caught fish and had a good time. We had luck with buzz baits and jigs.
