First; Thanks to Bird Strike, River rat, and Ace, for the help on the board before we ever left the driveway. We had a blast! Big SF was Awesome and it turned out just like Bird Strike said. Skunked. (We caught a couple rock bass.) Water was just a hair high. Two other cars in the lot, must have been fishing downstream, we went to the hole Bird Strike recommended and fished 'till 10:00 pm. River Rat, you were right on with turning us on to Gary @ BSF Outdoors. (606-376-5057) After setting us up with directions and favorite holes, he followed us to the truck with a buisness card with his home phone and told us to call if we had any kind of trouble. (Flat tire, lost, etc.) After leaving the river, we decided to fish the points off Low Gap for smallies, Ky's, etc.. Fished the main lake 'till 7:00 a.m. The few small fish we caught did'nt make it feel any less than a skunking. Posted water temp. was 48 degrees. (Don't believe it.) Now, we're not spring chickens, the oldest in the crew is 66, and we're pretty tired. We decide to spend a few hours at the tailwater. No less than 9 boats at any given time below the dam. We catch a number of good rainbows, and oddly enough, a bunch of skipjack that were just plain huge! No walleye the whole trip. The wives proclaimed our outing a success as no one was arrested or hurt, and we got a fish sandwich out of the deal. Thanks again boys for all the help. Dr.B.
This is a tough time of the year! But you got your fishing trip, caught some fish, and had your adventure! I'd say hands down a success! Thanks for posting.
