Might try a lighter action rod. Medium would be my first choice for a crankbait rod.

Anyone have problems losing fish with a wiggle wart. I fished the lbl BFL this weekend and had enough fish to finish in the top 10, but instead I blanked.
I lost around 17lbs of fish on a wiggle wart. sharp hooks, even changed hook during the day, but that did not help.
Anyone else lose a lot of big fish this weekend? Funny thing was the small fish were hooked good, but the big ones all came off

I was using a medium st. croix e-glass cranking stick.
I have been on a few good wart bits but have not have that problem. That's a bummer. I can only think of 2 things... This time of year it seems like fish eat a crankbait really well. When I'm cranking this time of year I will wait a split second before loading up the rod. Maybe that would have helped??? Also, last year I was on a late summer crankbait bite in deeper water. It seemed I was losing as many as I landing. I replaced some of my hooks with Sure Set hooks (they come packaged on some of the Rapala DT cranks). After making the switch I landed more fish.
One more tip about fishing warts... Using 1-3 Storm Suspend Dots on a wart's belly will suspend these baits really well! Give it a try. This has paid off for me big time this time of year.
heck i couldnt even get bit this weekend. i havnt really experienced anymore lose with wiggle warts than any other crank. do you use triple grip hooks, sometimes you'll just get a triple grip in there thats impossible to throw. other than that different colors or retrieves could maybe of got them to take the bait better. but might of just been one of those days, better luck next time.
real simple.....slow your roll.
Use the triple grips with the short shank.......
