    Beaver(s) trouble.

At our local lake, we're having beaver troubles. KDFWR has said trap them. Tried sevral combinations of bait, and no luck. Someone said bait them with alfalfa? Any ideas?
May belong in another spot, but I'm convinced the bunch around here will have some suggestions.
    Have a great week.
    Tommy.

We had one a few years ago trying to dam up a creek that ran through our subdivision. The HOA got some residents together, including myself, to take turns taking apart what the beaver had done everyday for about 3 weeks. He must have got discouraged because one day he was just gone. Not sure how you go about trapping one though.

LOL, yea they've been trying that, no luck. Little fella is very persistent. Been going on for over month now. Fish and Wildlife says its actually six of them. I've only seen one little feller, no-one else has seen it/them.
    Thanks for the input.

Beaver trapping is more about where you put the trap and how many you put out, rather than what type of bait to use. As a matter of fact bait is probably not going to yield some results. You need to watch for patteren movements and/or favorite spots the beaver may travel. Look for areas that they are cutting trees or building dams. Entries to dams and nesting areas are your best bet. Set multiple traps in all the hot spots and be careful the traps can be dangerous. Make sure that you check the traps everyday you don't want to snare the wrong animal and leave it out there. If all else fails send me a PM and I will put you in contact with a guy who would probably trap them for free. Or check out this website it has some great info as well. http://www.flemingoutdoors.com/beave...ping-tips.html

beaver move more at night ,thats why your not seeing them. if you can find where they go in to their den its hard to beat a big conibear trap. if they are building dams, tear a hole in it an use #4 or#5 double long spring. a leg hold trap need to be big, because a beavers back foot is bigger than your hand.
