    Re: White Bass

I went out Monday with 23 other boats and nobody was really hitting them. I caught one in 4 hours. My friend went out last Weds. night and said he caught around 30 in an hour before it got dark, then he went out on saturday and didn't catch a thing.

There are some crappie being caught, but the whites aren't running yet.

I just got back from fishing for whites at the CR yesterday. They were definetly on the move over there. Just look for feeder creeks, and you were in business. Still seems like they are not going all the way. Maybe next week? Still, we ended up catching a good mess around 40, with some nice fat females. We caught them on everything from small cranks, castmasters, and jerkbaits. Fish seemed to be somewhat scattered, hanging around 4-5' of water. Fun stuff.

    Rich,

Are you catching any trout? I noticed the water is really rolling. I've never been past Winfrey's Ferry...does the river widen out where the current isn't as much of a factor?

You are correct my friend. The CR is ROLLING!!! The section we fished was around the Burkesville area, and it was WIDE and MOVING!!! Haven't seen it that high for a long time. Needless to say, we stayed off the main river and just looked for feeder creeks. Once in the feeder creeks, it was nice. We managed to catch a couple nice rainbows while fishing for whites. They both looked like twins, around 17". I'd say with the river as high as it is, that's your only shot right now. Take care.
