    Slingshots

Anybody remember having a slingshot as a kid? Did you get good at it?

I had a wrist rocket and I could hit the broad side of a barn but that was about it. This guy is good! That must have been an old video judging from those pepsi cans.

That's a bad man with a wrist rocket, I don't want him shooting at me no time soon.

The one i had was cut from a forked limb. It had strips of rubber cut from an old car inner tube and an old shoe tongue. Used rocks and marbles. I killed lots of birds with it

I had a forked limb sling-shot too, but the rubber didn't stretch back as far as the one in the video...it's long gone now though. My uncle made it when I was a kid and I always wondered what wood he used to carve it from...but it looked exactly like the one's this guy had in his box, so I guess it was dogwood. My uncle also used to carve out his own wooden top water plugs too. Great video clip, glad you shared it with us.

My Grandpa called them "Gumbos" and apparently was quite the little terror with them as a kid...he said he got in trouble for taking it to school with him (one-room schoolhouse) and shooting a blackbird that had landed on the windowsill with it. Killed the bird, broke the glass. lol
