Caught two nice keepers just trolling a tube real shallow like near the dam. A few 12" or so Kentucky Bass and as usual to may little hybrids to count. Are those things any good for eatin'? If so whats the best size range for keepers?

Drowned a whole bunch of minnows Friday but never saw a crappie. Caught a few bass and bluegill. Fished mainly inlets and coves with stumps. Had the best luck near the dam as well but no crappie.
Well Colonel .... they're alot like White Bass, taste wise. Not bad eating, but they ain't Crappie ... LOL!! Filet them out, then remove any red meat, and they're not half bad.
With the new size limit being what it is .... I'd opt for the 10-12 inch range, if you can get them. Enough meat to bother with cleaning a handful of them ... whereas the smaller sized are just as tasty, but you'd have to clean a few more.
I do wish people would take to catching/cleaning/eating some of them, from T-ville. They're so numerous, I think they're competing for the same sized Shad as the Crappie. Thinning their numbers down would help the growth rate of both species ... probably even help the dink Basses, too ... LOL!!
