I have been on Barkley the past couple days. Was really not too bad. The water was starting to stain up in the bays a bit. Running the main lake was not too bad either. Hard choice you have there!

I'm guessing that the current will be really strong and they're be alot of floaters out there. Lake will be 3 or 4 feet over summer pool and most likely muddy. I'd probably go to KY Lake if I were you.
when is the water predicted to quit rising? anyone know?
ARE YOU OUT THERE DAVE STEWART???????????
As I posted on your last post early yesterday morning: The latest forecast is for the lakes here to be 5 ft over summer pool by midnight Tuesday...that is the TVA forecast. This rain is all up and down the Tennessee Valley so not sure if Guntersville is any better. Barkley was stained when I was there Saturday...there was a minefield of wood south of the 68 bridge...would not surprise me to see Barkley muddy up...but there is always Ky Lake...and it definitely is not like you are taking a step down to move over to Ky from Barkley.
Dave
thanks so much dave. sorry to bother you. all four of us on our trip are just pretty tore up right now. we thought we would be hitting it perfect and then this. this is our yearly trek and it looks to be going downhill quick!
im really worried about the fishing as well. will the bite still be good for the week with all the water? will the fish be shallow still? i really want to go to the big lakes instead of guntersville. we will be leaving at 8 tonight.
just got back from Barkley... flipped 22+ lbs from the bushes sat and sunday, lost two hawgs, all from bushes... caught a ton of 12-14.9 inches out of bushes, laydowns, and spawning flats. Go to Ky Dam Village, 230 boats of fish released there sat and sun....
good luck.
I bass fished down there last year when the water was up higher than it is now. Here's the best advise I can give you. Fish creeks/coves that have houses built on them. The reason why is they keep the banks cleaner and it gives you isolated cover to throw to w/plastics.
Last year I wasted too much time fishing the " Jungle " areas. I would not hesitate to still go, I would fish KY Lake
Bigwormy, just go to KY Lake. Like Dave said, it's not a step down from Barkley.
I would rather fish kentucky lake over barkley anyday!please help guys. we are leaving tomorrow and dont know whether to go to guntersville because of all the supposed rainfall around barkley. can someone give me some answers and soon as to whether it will be too bad on barkley. thanks a lot. this is a yearly trip and it sickens me not to go to barkley.
