Its been a while since I've done it. I used a couple of small pans and a single eye stove outside to pour. The stuff stinks pretty good, so you do not want to do it inside.

If your using new plastic (not recycled Baits) people say a microwave is the way to go for small production. You heat it in pyrex mearsuring cups. I looked into but never did it. Google TackleUndergroun lots of info there, every thing you want to know.

thanks for the responses, What I meant though was the little battery powered pen you can use to melt an already made bait to change like the color of the tail or add appendages such as legs or something. What I thought about was using a big 10" culptrit for example and adding some legs like a giant lizard. I fish some old strip pits that have huge bass in them that have seen every bait known to mankind. I thought maybe late evening or after dark fish the humps with something like this real slow. Who knows???

I think BPS has them. Also if you really want to melt things to your bait just sit them in your truck window for several hours that wiil stick everything together, lol. Also try using some of the new super glues made for fishing.

also add just a touch of mineral oil, will make them super soft, another thing my brother in law made a mold for, you could buy the plastic at herters then, but it was smokey and would leave a smell that lingered.

    Joe,
I purchased a Wenesco melter 2 years ago. It holds 2 gallons of plastic. I needed this size so I can dip my own tubes. Here is the link http://www.wenesco.com/plastisol.htm
    Good luck
