Best I've done is to Drop canoe/kayak off at Rock House, then park the car at Winfrey's, then ride bike back to Rock House. The sharp bend in the river means a 6? mile float with less than a mile between put in and take out.

I'm looking to float the cumberland, and didn't want to park my car at helms, etc, etc.
Do you guys and gals know of any reliable shuttle services that could be hired to pick up/drop off??
I'm thinking float to winfreys or helms, or whatever..........AND get a shuttle back to wolf creek dam.
I've done the float and paddle back up, but I suspect the water is flowing a little too hard for that right now
ANY ideas.
Thanks,
Geo

I don't know of any shuttle service and you are correct...you couldn't paddle up the river right now and if you dropped at Rockhouse and floated to winfreys it wouldn't take you long the way they are pulling the lake.
Call strange bait...maybe they have some ideas?
Geo,
I'm sure you've seen the hunting/fishing cabins for rent down around Winfrey's, right at the ramp. Well the family that rents those out will be happy to take you up to Helms or the dam for free if you are renting from them. I imagine they would also do it for a fee if you are not. I've always dropped my boat and gear off and then came back and asked for a lift. I've also chained my bike to a tree with the idea or riding it at the end of the day but luckily there has always been a fisherman to give me a lift. Thank goodness!!
Good luck to you.
Bump. In same boat (err kayak).
