    Fishing in South Korea

I know there are a few Soldiers on here occasionally. I have a request from a PFC in South Korea for info on fishing in South Korea and where he might go to do some.
I know a lot about fishiing but South Korea is one of my weak spots.
Can any of you military guys help out?

    Re: Fishing in South Korea

Here is what I remember, it has been a few years.Flounder and sea bass could be caught off the southern and eastern coast. Dont know much more than that but, there are a few fishing villages along the coast that people are always willing to help. Northeast of Seoul, up around "Chun chon" (?) there are some lakes and reservoirs but, the fish are tiny. I think the biggest fresh water fish I saw in Korea wasnt much more than 8" long. Throughout the western corridor there are also reservoirs that people fish in but like I said before very small bait (I mean fish). Hope this helps.

I only know that my cousin said that if you find a pit in the ground and it smells like a latrine, don't use it as one, because it might be KimChi (fermenting cabbage)and it really makes the locals mad.

Sorry this was off topic and of no help.

    Jim,

Have the soldier contact his MWR or ACS. They will have the current info he needs. Also
they plan trips to several places. When I was there last I got to go to a factory were
Browning and Eagle Claw rods were made. Got some really nice rods cheap. And also
    pass on Thanks for serving.

Also, THANKS for serving. Can't be much help in SK, but if ever in LC county....put him in touch with me.....We may not catch a lot of fish, but I will wear his .... out better than his best drill sarg....

Might even put him on to a Striper or TWO! All vets are welcome on my boat.

    Good Fishing to All.

Exceptionally helpful to me, I thought my neighbor's septic tank was overflowing, didn't realize he was running an oriental food distribution center.

Maybe you should try some instead of stalking me around trying to insult me.Of course I see you've offered some insightful help about South Korea yourself, never been there myself.

    Re: Fishing in South Korea

I work with a guy from South Korea, although he came to America when he was young. I asked him about the fishing once, and he said that all he remembers is people walking rivers using seine nets. He also said that it's pretty common for people to kill themselves trying to shock fish with car batteries. Not much help, I know, but the impression I get is that there isn't a whole lot of freshwater fishing being done over there.

    KY:
Didn't mean to offend ya, just clowning. No insult intended or even implied. I thought what you said was funny, that's all.
