I agree, they would be especially useful when for some unknown reason YOUR boat unexpectedly does almost a 180 turn and almost throws your passanger out of the boat.

OK here comes the open can of worms........Other than the boat flipping over upside down. Why do we not have seat belts for the high performance boats. I have been bounced around enough when running at 60+mph and have offen wondered how I could stay in the seat instead of bouncing out.
Most of the accidents are from being thrown out of the boat. One would think that a quick release buckle would work.
May some other anglers have some ideas. Fish arn't biting guess I have too mch time on my hands.

that is a good question..... but i would say its cause of the safety of drowning and stuff.... plus a boat is a pleasure thing adn thats kinda taboo on safety and laws and stuff...
Ok I'll bite. Why were you bounced around enough to be concerned? To fast for conditions? Bow hook? Hit something? I personally don't want to be strapped in the boat. If I'm coming out of the seat, I slow down. I would rather get tossed away from the boat with my PFD on.

Agreed, no way would I want to be stuck inside the boat and possibly drown. I would rather take my chances with a kill switch and pfd.Ok I'll bite. Why were you bounced around enough to be concerned? I have been strapped in in a 150mph Hydroplane. I was against it at first for the very reasons you have mentioned. After racing for 2 years being strapped in and 14 years before that of not, I do reccomend the seatbelts if your doing over 60mph. Things happen quickly like rogue waves and such. The best place to be is in the boat if there is anytype of accident. It is rare and I mean very very rare that a boat ends up upside down. If there is an accident your most likely to be found in the boat or with the boat. Many times we've read about an empty boat found floating and the driver and passenger(s) no where to be found. Just think back to this spring , a seatbelt probably would have saved a life.
I don't want one,If i hit something i would want too fly out that be tied in.Ask anyone who has had the motor come of where it went.
i would rather it be law to wear pfd and the kill switch attached than have to wear a seat belt. whos to say you would be able to remove the belt? i dont know but i beleive anyone would be lucky to be awake after an accident violent enough to flip their boat.
i am a light weight and i bounce all over. i would LOVE a full body harness of some sort. if there is a website for one let me know.
