    Re: Lincoln State Park

i fish lincoln lake regularly an am always happy with how i do. the majority of fish will be around 13-14 inchers which doesn't sound like fun, but when u catch 20-30 each time u go and only spend about 3 hrs there (usually not even that long), its a lot of fun. it has nice crappie in it too, and is now starting to get a yellow perch fishery going. i've caught about 12-14 yellow perch over the past year. u aren't going to catch a 10+ pound bass there, but you will always catch fish or you are doing something wrong. i've never walked away from the lake without being happy. just catch and release!! lol

Thanks for the info. Nice to hear there are yellow perch in there. Geo, I worked at Ferdinand Forest for a year when I first moved down here. Nice lake, nice gills and redears plus some chunky crappies. Also a few yellow perch in there.

I've read that there's some real quality redear in Lincoln Lake and for that matter Ferdinand too. Which one's the better panfish lake?

i would choose ferdinand over lincoln, but i don't target panfish very often. just from my experience. ferdinand is just too good compared to lincoln

    Re: Lincoln State Park

I fished this lake so many times it isn't funny. I grew up around there and spent tons of time on it. As for bass it's terrible like Steve says unless you want quantity over size. Spring time we used to kill gils on there with crickets.

I haven't fished it for 5+ years but even then they needed to increase the size limit to 18". Along the dam and ramp during the summer it is lined with people that keep everything. The size and catch limits really needed to be monitored better back then. Not sure about present day.

You think that is strange, I don't keep crappies unless I have someone to give them to. Gave away a limit today. Yes I like fish but I can get all the gills I want and I like them much better.
