I love Patoka, and fished it probably 20 times this year, but I'm in Evansville. If I were 10 miles from Monroe, I might not even know Patoka was there.

Patoka is 5 feet high so that might help with your decision.

    Re: Patoka or Monroe????

fished patoka on Monday. I didn't have a single bite. I did find a 6lber floating on the surface back in party cove. It was still alive but it's tail was stiff as if it was in a livewell all day and then released. It's skin was pretty beat up. I Tried to revive it but it was a lost cause.
I need to add that I went deer hunting for the first two hours of daylight but after I jumped some deer walking in I decided to give up on that early and just go fishing.
There was some fish hitting the surface as I was driving my boat back in the pocket to go deer hunting. I made a few cast at them but nothing hit.
I would just stay up at Monroe or better yet spend the day in the woods.

I have fished Patoka since it opened. The lake is nothing like it once was. Tournaments and the amount of boat traffic has taken it's toll. About the only decent fishing now-a-days is blue gill. Even Blue Gill size and quanity has fallen quite a bit.

I have fished Monroe a lot but not as much. I will say that Monroe still produces nice size bass. If I were 10 miles from Monroe, I would see how fast I could drive 10 miles. Good Luck

The bass fishing isn't bad at all. I am impressed every time I go it seems.
