February 12, 2010 I have some time off...Can not decided where to go and fish...thinking about going to Barkley or Kentucky lake but a friend of mine has told me about this Turtle Creek Reservoir. Can anyone help me on this body of water, the fishing, and any other helpful information. Will more than likely give it a try at some point no matter what but mid February would be first chance I get. Any information and insight is greatly appreciated positive or negative. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Don't waste your time. I live 30 miles from it and it hasn't been worth fishing in 10 years or more.
Turkey,
TC has been tough but there are still fish in there. Bad thing about the lake's layout is that the amount of fishable water, right temps, depends on if they have both generators going or not to warm things up. Even when both are going, however, it can still be tough.
A lake you might want to think about instead is Newton, over in IL. If you're driving from Indy, the time is only 15 min more to get to Newton but the lake is twice a big with way more fish and spots to hit. Hands down, that lake is way better and is really producing.
i agree TC has been bad for a long time. I go to Newton every winter, very good fishing, just watch out for the game wardens they will check your boat and u better not fire up your big engine or they will give u a ticket.
Amen to that one. I got a ticket out there a couple of years ago. Better have a horn or whistle as well as an up-to-date fire extinguisher or they will ticket you. Still, that lake is fantastic and worth that hastle. Plenty of water to cover regardless fo how many boats are on the lake and the fishing is usually very good.
Is Newton trolling motor only or a 10hp limit?
I could be wrong, but I think Newton has a 25hp limit.
It is 25hp lake
Now it is idle only no horsepower limit. stall has big bass just not as easy to catch no limit on catfish the place is loaded with channels
For what it's worth, I hit Newton yesterday and ended up boating 25-30 fish. Biggest were around 4.5 to 5lbs. Missed a number of nice fish, but that's fishing for ya! Still, happy with thsoe results for a day in January.
