I still like the old Rattletrap the best..I have used and like the Red Eye from Strike King as well.
For me it's the X-Calibur XR-50's and XR-75's. Go with the one-knocker for an extra loud rattle.
I was going to list all three of the ones these other guys have said...you just have to experiment and see which one you....AND the fish like!!!! The Red Eye Shad is my favorite right now, but it is hard to forget about the ole' sentimental favorite in the Rattletrap.....the hooks MUST be changed though...I like the Mustad Triple Grips.
I like the One Knocker. But the only time I use at rattle bait is when I go to G-ville. I hardly ever use them around our lakes (Nolin, Rough and Barren). Am I missing out? I've never had much luck with them around here.
For me the Red Eye shad. I have several different types from Lucky Craft to Rattle-L- Traps and I always seem to catch more fish on the Red Eye when they are hittin a rattle bait.
Same here. Also have a few diamond shad as well and a few of the Berkleys, SPROs, and the new SmackTackle bait.
It's a reaction bait, and the key to it is the action - color is not as big of a factor with a reaction bait. It's better to have a large variety of different makes/different actions, rather than a large variety in color.
I have always had luck with the other old classic the Cotton Cordel SuperSpot.
