    Re: Sauger

This time of year sauger are migrating upstream to spawn, so they tend to pile up on the downstream side of dams. But that doesn't mean you have to be sitting right at the base of the dam to catch them. You can, and definitely SHOULD, stay a safe distance downstream, and still catch plenty of them.

I fish Mcalpine, but I would scout it out below the dam. Watch the others fishing down there. They will show you if the fish are biting and the more popular areas to fish. Above the dam I would hit the feeder creeks flowing into the Ohio.Live bait is a big help,I drift,Crig, bobber, and tip my jig with a mnnow. Hit all rock and sand areas with structure good luck and be carefull. Chuck

Just an add on to this message.Recieved a call from my "FISHING WIFE"-Stevie and he-she seemed perturbed that I didn't mention that he-she was with me and contributed to the sauger caught at the damm. All I can say is I sorry and you will have bait your own hook from now on and take off your fish.
