Guys if any of you are planing anything boating wise at Cumberland Lake over the next couple of weeks I would call first and or check ACOE website for water levels. Talked with some folks and the lake is absolutely trashed. It is approaching the 698ft over mean sea level mark and has done this in a very short time. Keep in mind the target level has been 680. The water is Pea soup with huge debris fields.
East end of the lake is so bad that Buck Creek dock and Omega have had boats bust free and had to be retrieved with lots of damage done. Parts of the east end guys say a log runner could litterally walk or run across the lake on logs and debris.
Just wanted to give everybody a heads up, it's bad and it's gonna be bad for awhile.
Thats about right. Prob turning alot of water out of the dam into the river. I plan on a weekend "guy" trip there the first or second weekend of March. May CXL if the WX is bad in Feb. and go somewhere in the summer months if the wife will unlock the chain from the 500Lb ball!!
I crossed the river in Burksville today and it is rolling! The upper end of the lake is very ugly and mostly un-fishable. Not sure about the lower end.
Wow! If I am correct, that makes three (3) times within the past 7-8 months that Buck Creek/Omega has been hit hard ( June, December and now January). Wonder if there is anything left on the upper Cumberland River? Sorry for the owners.
There has been some talk that they are going to have to move down stream a bit to keep this from continuing to happen. These big flushers are just too much where they are located.
