After 3 weeks of cold, slow, mind and body numbing fishing ,Dale is coming to life. Fished in a hurricane ,about froze yesterday=5 fish-- 4 over 4lb and a 22.5 in /6lb 1 oz sow.Weather much better today ;6 fish- a 17 incher,4 fish = 5 lb to 5 lb 4 oz each and a 6lb 5 oz hog that was so fat she looked odd! Caught on drops along river channel 30-40 ft deep on alewives.Took pics and released. Will try to post pics on photo board.

Beats the time out of a couple days last week!!Till this year, never would have thought you could fish Dale with the best live bait(shad/alewives) for 2 days hard and only get a couple hits each day!!!! Cold water and high winds took their toll on me last week.
Well looks like our trip in 10 days will hit just about right with the warmer weather coming in. Hope we can get water temps in the low to mid 50`s for us. Been looking forward to this trip every year. But I`ll have a blast with these crazy people I`ll be with,,,Tim Tipton,Fisheater(John)and his dad and bandit1 and son(Jason and Austin,,upcoming smallie getter). After 3 weeks of cold, slow, mind and body numbing fishing ,Dale is coming to life. Nice fish Randell
How much weight do you use to get down that deep? Do you just free line / down line them or do you actually pull boards to put out a spread?
you had horrible conditions that day, Ask the dock hands from Horse Creek,
ps did u see them pusing the old dock from
DHLSP marina to its new home
What end of the lake were you fishing? We were there a week ago but things were TOUGH on the lower end. Thanks for the update!
Dang fellas, looks like where gonna hit it just right.

8 lb test on spinning reels - circle hooks to match size of bait.Been fishing 1/8 to 3/16 oz sinkers depending on wind.Key is to line up on break and follow parallel,if that doesn't work -turn and drag bait off flat and let slide over break.Let out enough line to get to desired depth.Wind can and has been a pain .Least amount of weight works best, lets bait move around more.

Fishing out of State Park.Fishing from State Park to First Island/up the Obey River prong-trying to find areas that wind isn't pushing too hard.Fished today-6 fish ,2 over 5lb, rest were 17-19 inchers.Get set up on a drift and wind would get up.A week ago it was as tough as I have seen ,struggled to get hits, very few fish to the boat.Makes for long day on water!!
