    Farm ponds

Been hitting some local ponds I have access to and doing okay. Went Thursday morning for three hours and caught four bass and two bluegill, all on a size 10 Bead Head Wolly Bugger. Went to a different pond on Friday and caught a dozen or so crappie, all on a Clouser Minnow, size 8.

I love taking the fly rod out on these farm ponds.

I hear ya Tim! Farm pond FFin is very fun stuff! You've got me wanting to hit some of my ponds that I haven't been to yet this year.

    Re: Farm ponds

After I psoted this yesterday, a friend called and told me he broke down and bought him a fly rod and wanted to go try it out after work. So we went around 5:30 and hit a local pond. I strung the rod up for him and gave him a quick casting lesson. I then took the rod and made a couple of cast into the water and caught about a 12 inch crappie lol.

He fished all the way around the lake and we got back near the truck and he didn't catch anything. As we were getting ready to leave, I asked to make a couple of cast with his riod and on about the third cast, bam, nice 10-inch bluegill. After I released that fish, he said "you wanna buy this thing from me?" LOL Good times.

It's that "fish stink" I always talk about. If we could just find a way to bottle that stuff up and sell it........we'd be RICH!!!
