Trying to plan a crappie trip to KY Lake next week. Need accomodations at reasonable rates, close to lake. Never crappie fished KY before so we will be shooting in the dark.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Driving down from Lexington.
Thank You
Sportmans Lodge is a nice place. It's located on 68 East at Jonathan Creek. There will be many, many boats fishing in Jonathan Creek at that time. You can drift the shallow flats with minnows for the Crappie or cast green curly tail jigs to the banks.
We stayed at Moors in one of there cabins right on the lake back in the fall and really liked it. It was clean and cheap when factoring in there was 4 of us ($35 per night per person). They also have single rooms and you can check their website for rates. We rented a covered slip in their marina and kept the boats there each night with no problems. Very friendly and helpful staff. We were fishing for LM/SM bass, but caught quite a few big crappie and white bass when using small 3'' green/white flukes on a 1/4 oz. jig head. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
Ken Bar ! Great place to stay. Nice people, Cheap.
Fish Tale Lodge in Paris Tenn located 5 min from the Big Sandy.. Nice place, great people at a very fair price. Was there last week and did very well on crappie. Good luck.
Just stayed at the Moors resort lake weekend, They have both cabins and a lodge ($72/night) that are right near the water, great place, nice people and we caught plenty of bass
Kenlake State Park has lodge rooms at $84.00 a night next Friday and Saturday.
i would figure out which area you are going to fish and find a hotel close to your primary area. you can obviously tow your boat to other ramps, if need be. however, i have nothing but good things to say about KenLake State Park. good luck!
I'm with Bradd on Kenlake SP. The place is first class and the people couldnt be any nicer.Don't leave without going down for a great breakfast in the dining room.Great food and great view of the lake as the sun comes up.The one negative I have is the marina, which I thought was quite expensive.Moors would be my second choice. They have it all and are nice folks.Great location, clean, friendly, good food and very reasonable on dockage fees.Good luck
Moors and Kenlake State Park would be my choices.... They are reasonable and right near the water. Both have good ramps, marina, and restauraunts right there.
I don't stay on Ky lake but we stay in Kuttawa at the relax Inn. Doesn't look like much but clean and they go out of their way for fishermen. Only a minute and a half from kuttawa public ramp. Key for us is they're choices for food, not just one or two. So close to water yet your right off the exit to highway. So we can hit other parts of the lake.
We use to stay in Cadiz because all the choices for food and minutes from different sections of the lake and 25 min. from Fenton on Ky lake.
Hope it helps more options.
