How was it???
Green River Lake Results: May 1, 2010
The Kentucky Division of the Legacy Series arrived at Green River Lake for the first event of the season. 18 youngsters with their adult partners arrived at the Campbellsville Baptist Church for the pre-tournament meeting with anticipation of weigh-in bags filled with 5 fat bass.
Kentucky West angler and Campbellsville Baptist member, Chris Ambers, welcomed us all into the church for a wonderful meal of fried chicken and vegetables. Following the meal, new director Eddie Goode introduced our speaker, Kyle Franklin. Kyle, a young pastor from the Campbellsville area, shared with us from the Old Testament book of Daniel. He explained how Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego made a difference by standing for the Lord. Kyle then explained how we can do the same thing if we will invite Jesus into our lives and dare to be different from the world. Following the message, one junior angler recommitted his life to Christ!
Saturday morning dawned with foreboding skies and distant rumbles of thunder as an approaching front promised drenching rains. The 18 teams blasted off in search of Green River’s largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass. All but one team would succeed in bringing at least one fish to the scales.
The team of Shannon Devere and Andrew Devere bested the field with five bass weighing a total of 13.44 lbs. Devere and Devere also landed the big bass of the tournament – a 4.43 pound largemouth. With their first place bonus bucks finish, they won a total of $594.00 and a couple of trophies provided by Awards Inc. in Glasgow.
Sam Rice and Sam Rich were only able to land four keepers in the driving rainstorm, but they were good enough to win second place and second big bass. Their 12.74 pound catch with their 4.15 pound kicker earned them $216.
Jeff Boone and Ryan Boone captured third with four bass that weighed 10.70 pounds. Rounding out the top five were the teams of Rice and Rice with 9.15 pounds and Hammonds and Hammonds with 9.09 pounds.
