I heading to to Nolin River Lake Saturday for some Walleye and Crappie fishing. I looked through the Kentucky rules and regs. but did not see any reference to to spider rigging. Is it legal in Kentucky? Thanks, DuV
Absolutely
If it were illegal, the KDFWR would have had to arrest Tim Farmer after last week's KY Afield!
Its legal, you just have to check your regs and see how many poles and hooks you may use. Here in Indiana its only three rods. You find the crappie and three rods will keep you busy.
In Kentucky there is NO limit on the number poles you can use...
I see guys at kentucky all the time runnig 8 poles with two guys...
Thanks All, DuV
Is a spider rig same as sabiki rig?If so they are legal in Kentucky but limited to three hooks in Ohio, use them to catch skipjacks from the Ohio river for bait.
Jake
No, spider rigging is a term used to describe fishing at least 8 rods at the same time, usually four poles on each side of the boat. A sabiki rigs is a single rig consisting of several short drop lines all connected to a single main line. They are usually used to catch bait. Especially effective at catching sardines, grunts and goggle eyes for use as fresh, live bait while offshore bottom fishing for snapper and grouper.
be aware there is a three rod limit on dale hollow, on other lakes in ky there is no practical limit on rods, but 4 work for me on green.
As far as I know, its three all over dale. # per person in a boat, and six per person from shore. I like to use a multiple jig rig on at least pole.Very easy Take 4 ft piece of flouro, tie a perfection loop allowing at least one tag end to be at least a foot long and tie on your jigs. 15 lb flouro works best because its stiff enough to keep the jigs from tangling most of the time, also use it casting at times.
