Took a rather long trip to Dale this year and stayed at Star Point. The first couple of days was chilly and rainy (hence the heavy clothes in the first few pix) but by far the best fishing. We boated LOTS of fish those first two days. Then the weather changed to bluebird skies and no wind - and not many fish. Then we had the full moon and the rains came. Us VA boys don't quite know what to do when the water goes up 4-5 feet in one day! Haven't ever seen that in 20 years of fishing DH.

At any rate, our best fish were caught in 6-10 feet next to laydowns on 3-4" grubs - best color seemed to be something with blue or red in it. After the high water moved in, we marked lots of fish in 12-16 feet and managed to catch a few of them trolling slow but nothing noteworthy. When we left the water temps were approaching 70 but the water was still very stained and lots of trash floating.

The above link has some of the best fish we caught, including a green fish and a really nice spot. Didn't weigh or measure any of them, they're all still swimmin'. Good luck, hope this helps

Behold the fisherman. He riseth early in the morning and disturbeth the whole household. Mighty are his preparations. He goeth forth full of hope, and when the day is spent he returneth smelling of strong drink and the truth is not in him.
