    Peabody WMA next weekend.

Some friends and I are camping and fishing at Peabody WMA next weekend. Has anyone fished these pits in the last few days. Would love to know the water temperature. We are mainly going down for some "Bull Bluegill" fishing. Have caught some monsters down there over the last 15 years. Have seen 11-12 inch Redear also.

Any information would be appreciated. Would love to find those Bulls on the nest.

I havent been there for a while but was told that some of the property there has been sold to privite owners. I cant verify that. When i used to go there the bluegills were huge. There are a lot of different type lakes to fish. Also dont forget your peabody permit ! Last time i went it was $12.00 i think. Might be 15 by now. Good luck,jc

JC, I know of one huge section that was bought for private use. Local rumors say there is gonna be a hunting/fishing lodge built there. We shall see. It is actually gated off now. Blocking a couple of my nice honey holes too. Oh well, there are plenty honey holes down there, believe me. I get my Peabody permit when I get my regular license. They have been $15 for a few years now, but worth it if you can fish it a few times a year.

Just found an article on the private land sale. 6000 acres have been sold with 4000 still for sale. KDFWR says there is 50,000 acres that they WILL NOT part with. I hope and pray the don't.
