What is your biggest score gambling?

    http://www.equibase.com/premium/eqbP...AY=D&STYLE=EQB

The above race took place Jan. 19, 2003 and is my biggest score in gambling to date on a single day of racing. First a little background as to why I bet the race. My wife and I was home about 3 weeks earlier the day after Christmas and it was late, she was asleep on the couch and I was watching Turfway Park. At that time, they were running their Christmas meet which runs at night and I noticed an outside bias on the track. Pretty much the outside post horses had the advantage all night long. I determined that the outside horses were not as good as they ran and the inside horses were not as bad. The next day, I printed off EVERY horse that ran that night and started looking for them to return to the races. The favorites on the inside that ran "poorly" had an excuse and the longshots on the outside that ran "great" also had an excuse for their better performance. The horses that ran bad from the inside would not get bet as heavy the next time and the horses that ran good from the outside would be overbet the next time. My trend start around the 5th of January when I hit a trifecta for over $3,000 and then some horses that I thought would not run so good the next start did not run so good. I hit another good lick with $100 to win on a horse that went off at 10-1 for another $1,000 on the 9th and this pattern continued over the next month. But the 19th is the real day that I KILLED THEM. There was a horse called Moby that was long odds on the inside part of the track the night of the bias that ran pretty decent and I knew he would be long odds the next start but planned on betting him HEAVY. He showed up in the 2nd race Jan 19th of 2003. I handicapped the 6 horse, Mystic Appeal, as the other horse in the race that I loved. I also loved the 7, 9 and 11. My wagers were as follows:

    $20 across on #3 Moby
    $20 exacta box 3-6
    $10 Trifecta wheel 3-6 with 3-6 with 7-9-11
    $1 Superfecta wheel 3-6 with 3-6 with 7-9-11 with 7-9-11

Not only did I cash EVERY bet but I had the ONLY winning Superfecta ticket sold. Too bad it was a Sunday and an early race instead of a Saturday early race for the handle would have been greater and my payout would have been better but I should not be crying.

I collected the following thru my TVG account:

    $20 across bet paid - $372
    $20 exacta bet paid - $2,482.00
    $10 Trifecta bet paid - $19,642.00
    $1 Superfecta bet paid - $15,061.80

    Total investment - $172
    Total return - $37,557.80

My wife and I was at home this day and had just got done with lunch. She was in the kitchen talking on the phone and our kitchen was seperated by a bar with a cathedral ceiling so she could see me the whole time. I called my buddy Chunknwind and told him what I had bet to see if he wanted any action for himself but he declined for he had just bought a new house. The race goes off and I am on the speaker phone with Cliff and my wife is laughing at me because her girlfriend is asking what in the heck is all the screaming for. The screaming was the fact that Mystic Appeal, my 6 horse was leading coming down the stretch, and Mike Battaglia was calling my 3 horse - Moby was coming on the outside and the 7-9-11 were headbobbing for 3rd and 4th. When the 3 passed the 7-9-11 and did not catch the 6, I knew I had cashed EVERY bet except my $20 win bet on the 3. I am hooping and hollering to the point that my wife tells me to calm down because I am going to have a heart attack. I tell her that she does not understand, "I just KILLED THEM". I am thinking $15,000 or so, thinking I am not the only one to hit the superfecta. She thinks I am nuts to think I have won that much money, plus her girlfriend made a comment like "Oh, sure", which she thought I was full of crap. My buddy Hens knew that with the winner being 4-1 and my bomb Moby being 25-1, that SERIOUS money was coming my way. TVG shows the payouts on the TV and I am writing them down and I see the payout for the Superfecta is a $1 payout, which they usually show a $2 payout and I here Ken Rudolf make a comment that "it was life changing money for the $15,061 and a meaningless 80 cents to the one lucky handicapper" and I tell my buddy Hens that I had the only winning Superfecta ticket. I am adding it up and figure out it is just a bit over $37,500 and tell my wife and she does not believe, she tells her friend on the cell phone and she does not believe so I log into my TVG account. I know what I have won and tell my wife to close here eyes and remember when she opens them that the amount she sees in my account is our money. She sees the balance is over $38,000 (I had a balance of a few bucks before the race) and she just about passes out. We were saving for out adoption of our son, which we had a bit over $20,000 in the bank and knew we needed another $10,000 plus for the total and I looked at her and said that is the rest of our adoption money and she started crying.

It gets better. I know there was a window at Keeneland that was a TVG window to make deposits and withdrawals so in the car we go. We leave Frankfort and head to Lexington, I go to the window planning on withdrawing all of it but the most they would give out was $1000 but he said the TVG window at the offtrack betting parlor on Poplar Level road in Louisville could give the whole amount because they are the bank. So, Lexington to Louisville we go, to the TVG bank and I withdraw all of it. So much in cash and so much in a certified check. On the way to the TVG bank we decided to go to the casino in New Albany IN for a bit. I say we, I meant me, because my wife would not spend a roll of nickels in a slot machine if she was in Vegas for a week. I call a co-worker of mine that was wanting to go so he met us there. Ed and I hit the blackjack table and I am down $500 in a matter of about 20 minutes. I normally bet 5-10 a hand until I win and then raise the stakes but I came in firing, had 20 twice and the dealer drew to hit 21 both times. I thought my luck had changed but I decided it was time to raise the stakes and head for the Craps table. The table is within eyesight of the blackjack table and I could see Ed still playing from where I was at. My first roll and I crap out with no money won. I don't do much as the dice passes around the table until a guy to my right keeps them for a bit and I win a couple of hundred bucks. THEN it happens, the greatest roll of my life. I put $25 on the pass line and hit a 7, then another as I pressed my bet on the pass line to $50, then 11 and I collect. Then I start hitting points after points after points after points. The crowd gets bigger and bigger around the table and louder and louder, as anyone who has spent anytime in a casino knows the louder the craps table the more people are winning. I see my wife talking to Ed and he sees the action so they come over to where I am at. I am stacking black chips, green chips, pink chips in front of me and have hundreds of dollars on the 6 and 8, plus have th 4-5-9-10 all bought as well but not as much. I keep coming out and hitting a 7 or 11, or rolling a point and then hitting that point for almost 20 minutes I keep the dice. I am up no telling how much but I keep taking black, green and pink chips and putting them in my pocket plus what is on the slot in front of me. I roll a 6 on the come out roll which is now the point and something tells me I am going to roll a hard 6, which is 3-3 on the dice. This pays 10-1 if you bet it and the bet is only for the one roll, you miss and you lose even if you roll a 6 like a 5-1 or 4-2, it has to be 3-3 in order to win the 10-1 wager. I grab a $500 chip and tell the table boss, $500 on a hard 6 and it gets quiet. The table is literally 4 deep all around and there are people with money on the table everywhere by this time. Adrenalin is flowing and I am obviously a bit COCKY as heck so I yell out "$500 on the hard 6, who is coming with me" and the chips fly from everywhere. The table boss holds up the roll to get whose chips are whose situated on the hard 6 bet, $5 here, $25 there and so forth. I tap the table 3 times with the dice and roll, BOOM 3-3 and the place goes WILD. I collect a cool $5000 on the hard 6 bet plus the money that I had on the point. They pay out everyone's bet and it is my turn to come out again. I roll a 7, collect my pass line bet and then roll a 4 which is now the point. It is still my turn to roll but I have a bad feeling so I tell the table boss to "Take me down". The worst words a casino likes to here at the craps table because now all my money on the table is frozen and I am at no risk to lose if I crap out but they dont have to pay either if I hit a point. I wait a few seconds for those around me to here what I said and a few more took their money off the table while others left it and I roll a 7 and crap out. I had almost $1500 on the table at that time which all came back to me. I time the 4 table employees $50 apiece and walk away with pockets full of chips having NO IDEA of how much was in them. We go and find a table in the restaurant to get something to eat and count the winnings and winnings they were. $13,000 in my pocket in chips plus the $38,000 from the track so I was a walking $51,000 bill. We eat supper and it is late so off to the cage I go to cash out. Nothing like the cashier counting out 130 - $100 bills added to the $7,000 in cash that I walked in with and now I am worried about getting mugged with $20,000 Cash and a check worth $31,000 in my pocket. We head for the car and my hand never leaves my pocket. Greatest gambling day of my life and probably will never be duplicated unless I win some huge poker tournament.

    $150 on a $6 bet.

I only gamble if I happen to go to the track...which is about 3 times per year. I also put absolutely no thought into my bets.

My aunt's FORMER boyfriend, the LUCKIEST BUM on EARTH, literally LUCKY and literally a BUM, goes over to mow his mothers lawn because she paid him $50 each time and it took less than 30 minutes including weed eating about 5 years ago. He picks up a scratch off lottery ticket that had already been scratched off from the grass, I was shocked to here that because this guy would barely bend over to pick up a $100 bill. He checks the ticket later and it was worth $10,000.

Yesterday I gambled on gas but it came out as a schart. Saved me 5 minutes of stop time but I wouldn't consider it a big score.

Congratulations on your winnings Elnut. That is amazing. I am not a lucky person. At the horseraces, I bet $5 on a longshot and won $65. When I was in Las Vegas I won nothing while I was there but at the airport waiting to leave I strolled by a slot machine and put in $1 and won $100 so that was good for me.

Well it wasn't my score, and I guess you can call it a win, my cousins wife, went to a indian casino in upper michigan. She hit ajackpot on a dollar machine, got so excited she had a heart attack, died there on the spot. Indians payed for the funeral, he cashed in a pretty good life insurance policy.Does that count?

A beautiful wife of 18 years, that would do anything for me, and two very healthy kids, and one very healthy granddaughter! Dont know how much they are worth, but they are priceless to me, and I definetly hit the superfecta with them.

Re: What is your biggest score gambling?

I met my Better Half online, playing backgammon on a site known as Netgammon. We chatted online for a while, then exchanged phone numbers and started running up astronomical phone bills. After a couple months of that, we decided to meet up, so we booked separate rooms at the Flamingo in Reno. Long story short, we both went home with a couple grand more than we got there with, PLUS a few months later she moved out here to Louisville, and the seven years we've lived together since have been the happiest of my life! What more of a score could anybody ask for?

My biggest score at the track was in 1984 on a mare I used to rub for Shug, named Pure Profit. You've probably never heard of her, but I'm sure some of you remember her daughters Inside Information and Educated Risk. Pure Profit was running in an allowance race where I really liked her chances, and a friend of mine also had a filly in the race (whose name I don't remember), and he really liked his filly, because he said they'd recently corrected some bad habits she had. So I bet $20 to win on my mare at 5-2, and a $20 exacta box with the two of them, and they ran one-two with Pure Profit on top. The exacta paid $72 and change, and I ended up taking home $824. I made plenty of bets in my 10 years on the track, and that was the biggest ticket I ever cashed, which is why I really don't bet that much any more. Took a whle, but I finally realized that I'm really not that good at it.
