According to a little article on BASSFAN.COM, Obama is going to appoint a carp czar to study and come up with a plan to get rid of asian carp, also it mentioned that the US might be able to ship them to China as they like them over there, but some in the food.drug admin are worried about the mercery and other supposedally toxic stuff that might be found in the fish. Here we can get rid of them but the gov wont let us. SAD SAD SAD

This will not work as soon as we get close to eradicating them the environmentalist will put them on the endangered list and you will have to protect them probably will not allow any boats on any water that might have a flying Asian carp. Which means fishing will not be allowed anywhere.
Beep Beep
if they are poisonous i am in favor of shipping them to china since they put crap in everything they send over here.
Don't think the mercury is only affecting asian carp. Everyone needs to study the STATE WIDE consumption advisory. When you do... try substituting the word "Beef", or "chicken" for the word fish. See how comfortable that makes you feel. Funny enough, the FDA does'nt regulate mercury content in either, much less post a consumption advisory. Mercury comes from burning coal. Period. It's sad to me more fishermen and fisherwomen, are'nt upset about this. It truly is Kentucky's own oil spill.According to a little article on BASSFAN.COM, Obama is going to appoint a carp czar to study and come up with a plan to get rid of asian carp, also it mentioned that the US might be able to ship them to China as they like them over there, but some in the food.drug admin are worried about the mercery and other supposedally toxic stuff that might be found in the fish. I wouldn't think that the asian carp have much mercury in them since they are not predators and are planktonic filter feeders. Most of the fish we have to worry about eating build up mercury levels by eating other fish. It's called biological magnification. When mercury is injested it stays in the tissues of a fish for life. So the more fish a predator eats, the more mercury builds up in it's tissues.
Think of it as DDT back in the day. The insects were dieing of DDT then eaten by smaller fish, who were eaten by larger fish, which were then eaten by eagles, herons, and other aquatic birds. The DDT then made their eggs weak and prone to death.
Also U.S. F&W would never list the asian carp on the endangered list because they are nonnative and highly invasive.
Perhaps Congress could provide a Carp TARP . . .
Not to be rude, but where do you think the baitfish that the predatory fish feed on get the mercury? They get it from smaller fish that feed on tiny plankton that also have mercury in them. Asian carp are eating the same plankton that the tiny baitfish are eating. And it is all coming from the burning of coal.I wouldn't think that the asian carp have much mercury in them since they are not predators and are planktonic filter feeders. Every aspect of a lake or river ecosystem is affected by mercury and other toxic fall-out. From plankton, to baitfish, to predatory fish, and then to you.
Thats 10 minutes away from where I grew up as a kid...the tournament is crazyWe don't need no goverment to fix this problem we can do it ourselves.
