    Red River Gorge

    Howdy All,

I'll be heading to the Gorge for a 4 day camping trip the first week of October. I'd like to get a little fly fishin in while there. Any good advice for camp sites near some good fishin? Good streams/rivers? I will have my waders with me so I should be good to go! The primary purpose is for my 8 yr old daughter and 9 year old nephew to have fun but daddy needs a little fun too

I will be trout fishin the St. Joe and Coeur d'Alene rivers the week of October 11 so the Gorge will be little warm-up

    Thanks!

I'm a fan of the East fork of Indian, but all the best pools are also big attractors of young college age campers splashing around in them. If the temps go down in time they may stay out of them, doubtful. If I remember right the road I camp on is 9b. When you go over the blue metal bridge go right, then right again when you see the little sign for Indian creek. I prefer to camp near the end of that access road, they won't open the gate and let you go all the way down it anymore. There is always a little pod of browns in the first run after the little dam and plenty of little bows in the pool below the little ****. You'll see plenty of beautiful pools and runs on the way in. After October 1st the wormers won't be aloud in there and you might be able to do some damage.

Bro, 9B is left after you go over the blue bridge, coming from Nada Tunnel of course. Stay on that gravel road until it turns to pavement, keep going, then turn right at the sign for Indian Creek, that is 9B.

Also, if you are fishing with children, I wouldn't take them to Indian. Try the Red River within the Natural Bridge State Resort Park, it should be loaded with stockers soon. Good look friend.
