not bad. I've decided I'm going to start making my own jigs this winter. I'm tired of ordering them on line when I could just make them at home and be ready to go fishing the next day and not have to wait for my order to arrive.

Where do you buy your lead and skirt material. Looking for the cheapest place to buy the two. Cheapest I found so far for skirt material is Barlow's.
i live near clarksville so i get my skirts from bass pro. but if u go to tacklewarehouse they have skirts. i would buy the skirts unlimited kit. it comes with everything that u need to make i think like 50 skirts. and i also buy my lead from bp.
I'll check with BPS but they are usually too expensive. I'm not going to buy lead from BPS because I heard you can buy lead from scrap yards for 35-50 cents a pound. That's a lot cheaper than buying those strips from BPS. Aren't they like $21.99 for 5 lbs at BPS?
yea i dont blame you...im not getting anything else from bass pro. i think it is something like that. thats what ill start doing when i run out
If you buy lead from a scrap yard you must clean the lead first. Melt your lead and then use candle wax about the size of a peanut and stir it in. BE SURE TO USE A LONG HANDLE AND A HEAVY PAIR OF GLOVES. SAFETY GOGGLES ARE A MUST. IT WILL START TO SMOKE AND FLAME UP. Once it is done it will bring all of the impurities up to the surface take a spoon and scrape it off. Repeat the step with the wax.
Now you should have good lead.

All over the place. I ran into a guy who had a couple hundred pounds that gave me some. So I am good for a little bit. If you know any plumbers who get old lead it will work but you have to clean it. Check Portland recycling in Louisville as well any other scrap yards.
Check your local plumbing supply store for "lead chalking" or lead ingots. Usually come in 5# ingots. Good soft lead. Pick up a skirt making tool and make your own skirts. This will let you make any combo that you want. Plenty of places online to pick up the materials.
