WTB - 17 or 18 ft alum. boat with console steering

On the hunt for a 17 or 18 ft aluminum boat with console steering, whether it's on the side or in the center...doesn't matter, I just do not want a tiller!

Been watching craigslist like a hawk for the past couple of months, but to no avail. Most I've found are too close to new or the owners are asking ridiculous prices.

    Preferred models:
1754, 1756, 1860, or something similar in that size range

Planning to use it for duck hunting, so extra boxes and carpet are not needed. The more open the floor plan, the better.

If anyone knows of some dealer left overs without a motor at good prices, by all means let me know.

If you or your friends have anything close that might be up for sale soon, let me know!

    Thanks guys!

Art, I hope I did not send you on a wild goose chase. I looked over the results online. The prices were really low, so without pictures I am assuming the Lunds were either stripped out or they were small Jon models.

I'm really curious, what were the conditions of those Lunds and the Duracraft?

Auctions are a crap shot, hope you did not waste a day.

It was a waste. The Lunds were gutted/stripped of anything that could be removed including gauges.

The Polar Crafts were small boats that would fit in the bed of a pickup.

The Dura Craft was a 1648 with a 40 hp with no lower unit - the steering console had been removed and the controls/wheel just laying in the floor. It was about as stripped as it could be with no subfloor.

The motors were just scattered out on the gravel lot - beat up, used and abused - might be good buys for a mechanic, but far too questionable for someone like me.

All the fishing gear was catfishing stuff.

I think the best deal was the scuba gear - I don't know much about it, but I think it pretty dang cheap because only one or two guys bid on it.

The guns were fair - the one I bid on (Winchester Super X2) was decently priced, but the other guy wanted it more than me so he got it. A Benelli Nova sold for about what a new one would bring...that surprised the heck out of me. There just weren't many semi-auto duck guns, so I guess that's why they went a little higher than expected. A decent deer rifle could have been bought cheap, no shortage of those, but I've got a few already.

Yeah, it was kind of a waste, but I enjoyed it. I feel the spring auction is probably a little better based on the results I saw from it. Thanks for letting me know about it.

When I saw those prices I thought something was amiss. Looks like I may owe you one for the bad steer.

I have seen a couple of the lunds they have sold in the past that were complete with running motors, but they usually go in the $3000 range.

Wish they would post pictures on the listing, may have saved at lot of time and travel.

    Anyway soooorrrryyyy.

Art if it makes you feel any better I thought I would let you know a buddy just called and invited me to go on a snipe hunt Saturday night. Never been before but can't wait to go out hunting them snipes.

When you're all mentioning an auction I assume you're talking about the auction that KDFWR had?

Were there a lot of people turn out for it?

Yes the KDFW auction. I was not able to go. Wish they would post pictures with the listing before the auction.

Yes, and there were quite a few bidders. Pretty close to 200 bidders.

Pictures, or at the very least, model numbers would be helpful.

They list the items like - "Polar Kraft Boat" or "Winchester 12 ga." - if you knew the model numbers like, Polar Kraft 1648, or Super X2, it would certainly help in your decision to go or not. But I guess if they put too much detail on there, there wouldn't be as many showing up...probably an auctioneer's gimmick to draw more people with the unknown factor in there.
