Fresh water eels?

I know this is an old thread, but I just joined looking for more information. I caught an eel about 2 weeks ago, off the boat ramp on Clarks River in Paducah. none of my local buddies that fish know anything about it, so I was just looking for information.

Never caught an eel but have seen one snake head that will give you the same squeeling reaction. Those things are NASTY!

My cousin caught a eel at the falls last year. First one i had ever seen. It was pretty cool.

They're not uncommon close to the Misterslippery River. Several of the guys on the roughfish board have posted reports of eels in Minnesota over the last year.

Was fishing on the beach down from the lock at the Boon state park about 200 yards down. With my dad up about 75 yards and my buddy 35 yards up from me, fishing with bells so i had my light off when I seen something in the water to my left about 5 foot off the bank. I turn my headlamp on and started calling for my dad, I'm 25 years old and I have never seen anything like it. It had a head like a fish and the way it swam away from me was like a snake, it swam out away from the bank about 20-30 yards then set in the fast moving water watching me. It was about 3 foot long from what I could tell, then it swam down the river and I didn't see it any more. I posted it on here because we think that it was a eel. any one have any info?

Caught this American Eel on the Mississippi River in Kentucky at a WMA about an hour southwest of Paducah over the summer. Surprised to see an eel on the line, so I researched them. They give birth in the Sargaso Sea, but swim up rivers as far north as MN to breed.

Ohio River, by the gambling bottom fishing live shad 2005, in November. OMG these things are slimy, stinky, and do they ever have a bad attitude when you bring them in the boat.
