I was out that day along with about 10 other boats came out of poison and had to run back to Rocky PT. Normally a 20 minute run took an hour. The big bend below poison was rocking! Have to say I was a little worried that day. Guys were coming into deer creek white as ghosts after that ride

When the trees were fallin in the creek and sounding like bombs going off. I figured I better try to avoid getting squished so I moved out to the mouth of the creek. The river was unreal. I had had never seen it that bad before and I have seen it pretty bad in my day, After sitting at the mouth a minute there was some trees crackin all around that I wanted no part of. So figured I would "try" to exit the creek and go out and around and get on the bank where I wouldn't have to worry about trees falling on my head. Neither option sounded good to me.
While trying to make the move in the shallow water My plan was derailed due to some massive waves that were crashing into the mouth that lifted the front of the boat and sent me due right onto the silt. With the high wind there was no escaping it. Then I had to grab the rope and get out and wade up onto the bank and tie the boat off onto a fallen tree. Then I sat on the bank soaking wet and watched the rest of natures show.
Luckily my cell phone didn't get totally soaked and I was able to get hold of some buddies at the ramp. After the storm subsided they came up river to help push the boat off the silt and help remove a massive waterlogged tree that had blown up against it from out of the river. It seemed like it weighed two tons. After that I fired up the merc and took off to the ramp. No damage just a lot of drying out to do.
The picture was after the worst part of the storm. At the height of the storm you couldn't see the other side of the river due to the wind blowing the caps off the waves. Just a solid white mist.
Sure missed the weather report that day. I knew it was gonna be windy but geesh......
