Jig colors for lakes with shad forage

What color jigs produce when the primary forage is gizzard shad?

I am looking for something that you cast into a ball of shad found with electronics out in the main lake, and the bass are staying underneath them right now, not pushing them up to the surface.

I threw cranks at them all day and only caught one bass on a bait that went 12-15ft cranked through the shad balls.

    Any ideas?

Both of those will work.....try yo-yoing a lipless crankbait through the ball of shad too.

Thanks for the info. I did try the lipless yo-yo with no results, it was very windy last friday which made boat control near impossible. I was trying to get upwind and throw the cranks wind aided as far as I could to get them to go through the shad balls. I think the baits were too big, and small ones don't want to go that deep.

I am heading to gander mountain right now, then too the lake. I am going to buy some white versions of jigs, and maybe some Gulp Alive minnows for trailers, as expensive at they are I hope they work.

I do have some jiggin spoons I use at Cecil Harden for white bass, if the wind co-operates today, I will put one on a spinning reel.

Anyway, thanks for the help and off to Mill Creek Illinois I go.

    Not good.

3 bass on fire tiger rattletraps, Zozuri 1/2oz...

    Biggest 13 inches.

Weather man said 51F and sunny by 12 noon Indiana. I was fishing by 12:30pm Illinois time... It was cloudy and 43F with the wind picking up and blowing from the SW, up to 15mph.

I should have just stayed home, and ended up spending $64 at Gander Mtn....

    Oh, happy day.

I killed with the white jig I had for all of 3 hours.... I need to get more of those ********.

Strike king makes a Red Ear Rattletrap That I think was really good(lost it also)

I have been going to darker, natural colors with the water clearing up.
