I wouldn't leave it plugged up 24/7 if that is what your doing. Just plug it in every couple weeks for a hour or two. Do you have all the breakers turned off?

Hey guys - I finished winterizing my boat last week and I left the on-board battery charger plugged in to keep the batteries fully charged. I noticed today that the green light was on but the charger was hot to the touch...is this normal or should I be concerned?

I leave my Guest automatic chargers plugged in and connected to the batteries 24/7 and they are only slightly warm while maintaining all my batteries. The do run warm during the intial charge.
I have left mine hooked up for two years now without a problem. I leave my back hatch open while in the garage charging. In the past if I unhooked the charger in the winter the cold temps somehow drained the battery or something on the boat drew them down.
Since I'm charging mine in the garage also, I also leave the back hatch open.

It helps to unhook one side of the batteries for the winter. They will stay up if they are good.
call the manufacturer and ask. may be a normal situation. they will advise
