what lure / what technique during your career

After reading the post on lure color, it made me think of my 50 plus some years of fishing.
What lure did you see make the biggest impact on your fishing results.
Example when I started I would have to say, the original Rapala from Finland. (lure)
    Technique: flipping
Lets save electronics & boats equipment for another topic, the older ones on here should be able to date some of you by your choice (lol)

Texas rigged gitzit (tube)...anyone else remember calling tubes a gitzit? I do a lot of smallmouth fishing in OH and nothing beats the ole' gitzit.

I used to fish with a guy who called the tubes "gitzits". He said thats all you use to need on the 2 lakes, now you wouldn't find one on his boat if you paid him.

For me, I found a square-bill crankbait that seemed to do the trick. It's the only cb I threw for 2 yrs and still have it, in two peices, after exhausting it with superglue. It pays to look closely at color patterns when buying another cb that you have had luck on, it's amazing how much difference there can be, good and bad.

Bass fishing .... probably the plastic worm LOL !! (with the Rebel Minnow & Wiggle Wart close behind)
Crappie fising ... no doubt, the Roadrunner marabou jig !! (followed closely by Y guard weedless jigheads & plastic tubes)

    Yep ... dated myself pretty good there, didn't I ... LOL !!

Mann's Jelly Worms. Back in the day a dear friend now passed and I would get the #9's and pinch them at the middle. We killed bass in Guist when I was kid on those things in blueberry and strawberry. I also remember when the scissor buzzbait came out, the original one was made by Lunker Lure, man did we ever destroy bass on those things the first several years. My Dad sit on the back of my ole Terry Bassboat and watched me catch 16 keepers one morning out of Guist while he drank coffee and smiled. He never wet a line just watched me and smiled, I was 14 at the time. I had a boat before a car, lol. Thanks alot Rick for this post you just stirred alot of emotion and memories in me, nice post buddy.....

Started with a Jitterbug and thought it was the best thing ever.. Remember when you would throw it out, wait til the rings go away and then pull it two feet and repeat? Then BOOM! Go to a pond late one summer evening and take a kid, they will forever remember that BOOM!

Culprit red shad ribbon tail worm - the last bag of those I have was bought at the old Washington St Warehouse - it's been 10 years since I've fished with them.

    Good post!
