    melting lead

After I get my lead clean and start pouring. My lead on top starts to solidify. Is this just more dirt coming to the top.

is using the flux really necessary? If so what do u do just put some of it into the pot with the lead before melting?

Yes flux your lead. I have never tried to add lead to the flux. So I can't comment on that.

    Re: melting lead

Hey guys not trying to but in on anybody but I wanted to post this to guys who are new to pouring lead. If you pour in a really cold room, like a shed or something make sure to heat your lead with a heat gun tourch or hot plate but not to where it melts but get it warm. If you dont it is like adding water to the lead and it will pop all over you. Even if you put anything like a cold spoon to skim or anything and heat the mold also. Just thought I would pass it along.
