on the Ohio. I want to get into some catfish mainly and a mixed bag, just holes within casting distance. I'd prefer to stay in Louisville, Prospect or somewhere close. Has anyone had success at Cox Park, next to the ramp? I shy away from the Ohio but know there is some good fishing.

Thanks for starting this thread.
I've always shied away from the Ohio too.
With gas prices going up may be looking to fish more closer to home some.
All kinds of youtube videos of guys catchin tons of cats drift fishing out there, aint got a boat strong enough for the mighty river.
Now if we can just get some input.
I've always heard the Green Wood boat ramp area (south end of town) was a good place to bank fish but never been there.
The falls of Ohio is a good spot to bank fish when the water is not too high. Boats are usually preferred there though. Up closer to the dam is a good spot for bait fish, such as shad, skip jack and moon eye.
The catfishing is good almost every where along the bank there, but mostly down the river a bit from the dam is where they are caught. Also a good spot to catch other types of fish. I have been going there for over 5 years now and am very pleased with my results. Made front page on here with the pic in my avatar from down there.
I know the pool where fishermen wade for sauger at the falls, are you talking about that area or even further down? BTW, the McAlpine level is 30+ now.
Doesnt really matter. The fish are all along the bank there.
