It is getting close to the time of year for them to start comming up. My mother told me the other day that she once found some as early as March 23. She remember the exact date because it was her moms/my grandmothers birthday.
I normally dont have any sucess until the 1st week in April but thought I might go over the weekend. I know the air will be cold but with all the rain and previous warm days I thought the ground tempature and moisture level might bring up some early mushrooms.
Has any body been out looking yet and found any?

Does anyone sale them around the Georgetown area?
Today I made my second trip this year hunting them. Found the first ones today, they were on the small side and did not find but 10-12 black ones. I imagine that by next week there will be a lot coming up. Good luck with your hunting.
I had planned on going weekend of 26-27 but the cold tempatures and strong wind kept me out of the woods. I got out for my 1st trip today 4/29 and found 35 black ones. All were very fresh and appeared to have been up 24-48 hours. The place I found 35 is good for 100-200 when the conditions are right.
I believe all we need is one decent rain followed buy warm weather with plenty of sunshine and it will be on like Donkey Kong...that is for areas that have the "early black" mushrooms. I normally dont find the yellow, grey or white ones until after the peak of the black mushroom harvest...got to go wife said supper/mushrooms are on the table.
