Lots of mud and a big bus tire at the bottom of the ramp...let me know if you put in and how it worked out....when you get into Lockport the ramp is by the bridge across from the general store.

Can anyone tell me if there is a decent ramp below the Dam close by - and after all the water wondering if it would be clear of mud and junk?

that ramp is above the **** they usually put in below the **** but there is no ramp the closes ramp would be the twin creek ramp but it would be about a 6 mile run to get the **** the ramp at twin creek look fair to good ill swing by on the way home tommrow and see how clean it looks i have seen a few boat over ther the last few days and the ky river looks better every day
You can put in right below the dam if you can get down to it, but you're gonna need 4WD with high clearance, and even then it's iffy. A buddy of mine lives in Eminence and used to be friends with the guy from the Amy Corps and they used to put down gravel and bulldoze it once in a while but I don't think they've done that in years and it's really washed out bad last I saw. Last time he and I went there he almost couldn't get his trailer out of there and it blew out both tires. I wouldn't recommend it. And another big challenge to trying to fish just below that dam is that once you leave the channel, there are some SERIOUS rocks not far under the surface, just waiting to take out someone's lower unit. My buddy's in his 70's and been fishing it since he was a kid, so he knows them, but I'd be scared to try it myself.
Chuck, Thanks for reply-will let you know after go down, Wild Duck

RaodToad from Wild Duck Thanks for inf on Lockport Dam appreciate it.
I have heard a rumor that they were going to build a new ramp below the locks at the new bridge in Gratz, that would be about 1 mile below the locks and would be nice. The ramp above the locks is at Six Mile Creek. Below is only gravel or rock and you would need a 4x4 to get in and out. I used to put in there all the time with no problems but that has been about 3 years and my boat was a 17' bass boat and i had no problems. My boat now is over 19' and alot heavier and I would not even attempt to put in below the locks, even though I really miss the fishing down there this time of year.
