    Snagging at ky dam

Does anyone have any information on the outflow at Ky lake. We usually take a trip down to snag for spoonbill around memorial day and was wondering if the water will be too swift to do so. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I live 2 hours away and would hate to make the drive for nothing. Anybody else snag for spoonbill?

    Re: Snagging at ky dam

My wife and I were below Kentucky Dam last Friday night (5/13/11) and watched three guys snagging fish from the rip rap shore just below the parking lot. We watched them for about 45 minutes and they snagged two nice spoonbills and two of those asian carps. It was really interesting to watch these fellows snag these fish. My first observance of this type fishing. As for the water being swift, it appeared to have a strong current as all gates were open on the dam. These guys would cast out as far as possible and maybe rip their rods three to four times before they had to reel it back in.

    Re: Snagging at ky dam

I snag for spoonbill - but since I moved to Louisville a few years ago, I haven't been able to get back below KY Dam since. I used flat wear them spoonies out back before they started building the new bridge. I used to only snag from the Marshall County side. When conditions were right, it wasn't too difficult to get a limit of 15...now the limit is much less...

As of yesterday they have been catching spoons. Water high and flow is fast but cats and spoons have been caught. I'm going for the upcoming weekend. Least for couple days.
